As you all know, most people don’t know the importance of the MIL. That’s why many people deceived by wrong information that was spread and most people also not able to understand the media and information.

What is Media and Information Literacy?

•

Literature literacy is defined as a set of competencies that empowers citizens to access, retrieve, understand, evaluate and use, to create as well share information and media content and formats, using various tools, in a critical, ethical and effective way, in order to participate and engage in personal, professional and societal activities.

Is it Really Important?

MIL or Media and information literacy is very important because it teaches you to understand the information. Is the news telling that it is true? Is the words of that person was true and not a lie that was posted in online? It makes you very uncertain because you don’t know if that is true, so it is important to know how to determine the validity of each information that you have saw and read online to have awareness if there might be something in the information, that will able to help you accept that information and broadens your understanding about the information. Not able to understand the information can cause problem especially in social media. Many people are sharing and commenting in any post that was spread by you. Because people might misunderstood and not be able to understand what you want to convey to other people and false information will be spread fast. And may be able to offend some people who have read the information that’s why you have to take the responsibility of what you did.

In receiving or discovering some information must have a critical thinking so that you may able to notice if each information that you see make sense, what idea does it want to convey, what are the side story about the information because knowing the side stories will give you a big view about that information that will support you and help you to have awareness so that you will not deceived by false information that was meant for deceiving people.
